Professor Pierre Jaïs’ team began recruiting patients for the European Beat AF trial at the end of December at the Bordeaux University Hospital. This is a major step in the scientific dynamic launched in 2021.

As a reminder, the study, which involves 9 prestigious European clinical centers, is expected to demonstrate that pulmonary vein isolation by pulsed field ablation is more effective than radiofrequency, the reference treatment to date. The study is expected to include a total of nearly 300 patients within the 9 centers.
As a reminder, pulsed field ablation uses high-voltage electrical micro-shocks to open nanoscale pores in cell membranes, without damage to non-cardiac collateral tissue.

BEAT AF hopes to revolutionize the management of atrial fibrillation, which affects more than 10 million people in Europe.
