Rokhaya Faye is a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Pathophysiology Department Liryc Institute. Learn more about her career path.

Rokhaya, what is your position at Liryc?

My position mainly involves the scientific coordination of a clinical research project to measure and understand the involvement of the nervous system in heart rhythm disorders in patients. The aim of the study is to better identify people at risk, and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

At the same time, I’m working on the development of a pre-clinical research platform for a better understanding of the molecular and structural mechanisms behind cardiovascular disease at the Institute.

Why did you choose to pursue a scientific career?

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a passion for science and medicine. This passion motivated me to undertake scientific studies. I’m now proud to be working in a field where translational and clinical research meet, contributing in my own way not only to prevention, but above all to the improvement of diagnostic tools and better management of heart rhythm disorders.

Do you have any advice for the younger generations looking to embark on a career in science?

A career in science requires, among other qualities, curiosity, passion and perseverance.

As a researcher, we spend our lives studying a subject we’re passionate about. In my opinion, these qualities (not forgetting ambition) are fundamental to any researcher, whatever his or her chosen field.
